About us

Your Neighbourhood Bar
Afternoon to Afterdark.
Built on rhythm. Powered by good times.

Rs is an independent neighbourhood bar in the heart of Stockport, built for long afternoons, good drinks, great music and nights that don’t always go to plan.

We’re not quite a cocktail bar.
Not quite a wine bar.
And definitely not just somewhere you visit after dark.

We’re somewhere in between.

A place to drop into after work and accidentally stay all night. Somewhere to share a bottle of wine with friends, sit at the bar over a cocktail, discover a new DJ, spend a Sunday afternoon listening to records, or end up dancing when you absolutely said you were only coming out for one.

That’s Rs.

Afternoon to Afterdark
Rs changes as the day does.

Afternoons are easy-going. Good wine, cold beer, cocktails, snacks, conversation and a soundtrack worth listening to.

As the evening moves on, the lights come down, the music comes up and the room starts to change.

By night, things can get a little looser.

But we don't want to be a bar that spends all week waiting for Saturday night. Rs is designed to have a reason to exist throughout the week — whether you're stopping by for an after-work drink, opening a bottle on the terrace or staying for the DJs.

Come early. Stay late.

drinks

The drinks at Rs are familiar, but never boring.

Our cocktail list moves with the seasons, mixing proper classics with house creations that feel unmistakably ours.

Alongside them you'll find a deliberately curated wine list, interesting bottles, beers on tap, cold cans and bottles from the fridge, spritzes and genuinely good alcohol-free options.

We don't believe a neighbourhood bar needs a 14-page drinks bible.

We'd rather serve fewer things that we've actually chosen for a reason.

Grab a menu, ask us what we're drinking, or let us pour you something.

music matters here

Music isn't background noise at Rs.
It's part of the place.
House. Disco. Soul. Funk. Jazz. Grooves. And everything good in between.

Our selectors, residents, guests and friends move through different sounds depending on the day, the room and the crowd.

Some nights are built around DJs. Others might mean live musicians, records being passed around or simply a brilliant soundtrack playing while everyone gets on with having a drink.

What you won't find is the same predictable playlist every weekend.

The room should have a pulse — even when nobody's dancing yet.

And when people do start dancing?

Even better.

The Week at Rs
Every day has its own personality.

Unscripted Thursdays are exactly that, good cocktails, good music and absolutely no requirement to have a plan.

Ritual Fridays take us from after-work drinks into the weekend.

Essence Saturdays bring our selectors and DJs to the centre of the room as afternoon turns into after dark.

Sundays slow things down before building them back up again, from records and live sessions to NOIRÉ, our late-night Sunday home for hospitality and anyone else who isn't quite ready for the weekend to finish.

Then there are the things that don't happen every week, guest selectors, takeovers, live music, parties, collaborations and whatever else we think Stockport deserves next.

Your Neighbourhood Bar
The word neighbourhood matters to us.

Rs isn't supposed to feel like somewhere that's been picked up from another city and dropped into Stockport.

We're influenced by the bars, listening rooms and late-night spaces we love, particularly the energy of neighbourhood bars in places like New York, but Rs belongs here.

Stockport is changing.

New independents are opening, people are moving into the town centre and there's a growing community that wants somewhere good to drink without automatically getting on a train into Manchester.

We want to be part of that. A bar where the team knows your drink. Where you'll recognise people. Where coming in alone doesn't feel strange. Where the person playing records might be standing next to you at the bar twenty minutes later.

Where Thursday afternoon and Saturday at midnight can feel completely different, while somehow still feeling like the same place.

No Big Speech Required
We're serious about hospitality.

We're less serious about ourselves.

Good drinks. Interesting wine.
Cold beer. Great music.
Friendly people. A little table service.
A few snacks. Plenty of reasons to stay for another.

That's really the idea.

No velvet ropes. No forced cool. No pretending every night needs to be an "experience."

Just a neighbourhood bar we're proud to put our name on. Rs

Afternoon to Afterdark. Built on rhythm. Powered by good times. Stockport.
